What did you do on or to your other bike part 2

I had a double "other bike" day. I pulled all of the CBs out of the garage to dust them off. The CB750 hadn't been out for a ride in a while, so we had a nice 70 mile ride east of town. After getting back, I took the 1000F out for some highway miles to do fine adjustments on the windshield height. Desert temps were in the mid 80s (finally) and it was near perfect. Tomorrow will be the CB1100's turn.

You've got that nice and rare blue 750. When I get my CB1100, I'll have to take some pics of them together, both being black and all.Screenshot_20260926_093739_Gallery.webp

My forest ride today started off great...

Then...Ack!

Took me about 1/2 hour to upright the bike as the rear wheel got stuck deeper 'n deeper in a throttle-made rut. Finally had to drag the handlebars and front wheel hard left to get the bike partially turned around and pointing more downhill.

All good...amazingly the bike is only dirty with muddy riding gear.

Of course I'm older now, will hurt more/ do more damage, but When I was out you weren't riding hard enough if you didn't fall over at least once a ride.Screenshot_20260927_093402_Gallery.webp

The XR650 is a great bike; I imagine you had plenty 'o fun riding it. Of the 3 Japanese big-bore singles, I've owned 2: the klr650 and now my DR650 and I've ridden a friend's XR--seemed very capable, much lighter, especially compared with the KLR.

But I've never ascribed to the "not riding hard enough if you didn't fall over at least once a ride". I don't own dual-purpose bikes to ride hard and push limits to the point I'm likely to fall every ride. I guess I get it, some guys love the speed, the adrenline...the risk, too. I enjoy a little of that, but then I get tired of it quickly. I ride to get to places with beautiful views, to moto-camp, take pictures!, get to a trailhead to hike, find a place to read a book, to enjoy the forests and deserts of Oregon...and to get back home in one piece with no pain and no broken bike...that's a good ride for me!

And I like to ride alone, and to remote places. I always have those two factors in mind--alone and remote. So I ride in a way and choose levels of difficulty that match the bike I'm on, and match my desire to not injure myself while I might be hours away from anyone (I take a few more risks on my KLX300 as it weighs much less than the DR650).

I have a friend I ride with who is really good off-road. But we understand each other...he'll take off and lose me for awhile, then take a water / navigation / nature break while I catch up. He pushes me sometimes and I like the challenge, but I think he also likes knowing that I'm coming up behind him in case something happens to him.

my final round in my holidays .....sorry i had only my phone as picture-engine with me.....In the end, I was even blinded by the moon.

I do miss riding dirt. I like it better than street riding. It's just that even out in the sticks of PA where I live everything is private property.

Really had to travel a bit to get to some areas.
I also rode alone way to much, just asking for trouble.

Ah...that lack of dirt access is very unfortunate...I feel for you. In Oregon we have plenty of national forest and BLM areas, along with dedicated OHV trail areas for ATVs and motorcycles. All the light green is national forest and the yellow BLM...lots and lots of good riding off road / non-paved surfaces.

Some of it makes me feel down right giddy with happiness:

Very cool pics, Pdedse. One last trip to Headquarters (The boss' driveway) on Sunday morning on Super Bird Sunday morning before we bug out for two weeks in Greece. Nice to have a full set of three boxes to load up, to haul some of my surplus delivery supplies to HQ so the rest of the crew can use them while I'm gone. Plus, a few final repairs to one of the bikes that will be pressed into service.

Our temps have crept back up along with the humidity with the storms hitting South of us, and knocking this stuff out early made it a bit more comfortable.

You'll be pleased to have a break, Gone. Been a big year.

I'm looking forward to some Gone musings from the Mediterranean.

I'm looking forward to some Gone musings from the Mediterranean.

It has been quite a year, and one that I'm very much the happier for. And thank you, the break will be nice. No runs today so I've been sorting clothes and packing after reading a few articles about "how not to look like a tourist in Greece". I'm apparently shy by a few white linen shirts, but I'll have Mrs. G review my choices so I don't embarrass myself (or her).

How many bikes in your stable, pdedse?
I have 3: the CB1100, the DR650 and the KLX300...oh, and another one in Costa Rica, a little Honda XR190L. And then just a few days ago, the guy I sold my blue '21 Kawasaki W800 to now has it for sale! He only owned it 10 months and put less than 400 miles on the bike. I told him I was only selling so that I could buy the KLX300 and to let me know if he ever wanted to sell it back to me, that I might be interested. Hmmmm....
