Looking at the Sena SMH5 or SMH10. Anyone using these, if so how do you like them? They are just coming out with a 20S that looks really nice, but a little on the expensive side.

I have the Sena SMH10R, which is a more compact version of the SMH10 which a different control layout. The reviews on both the 10 and 10R are great, though many prefer the swivel/knob control on the 10.

Sound quality is good for music and voice calling (bass isn't great, but what do you expect from small flat speakers?) and it syncs with my iPhone seamlessly. People that call me are amazed to find that I'm going XX MPH on a motorcycle!

Highly recommended!!

I use the uclear force HBC 200. Boomless works with my iPhone also. Can add as many riders you want HOPS so the distance keeps going as you add another rider

Really love my Scala Rider Q3. I'll look into the Sena stuff and see if I think it's better/same/ not as good. The Q3 does a great job with bluetooth functionality (including streaming music, A2DP). Admittedly I've only used the actual intercom part of it maybe three times (did I mention her Rebel has 40 miles on it?)

Sena SMH10 is a good piece of equipment. Also do you use a PC or Mac? I bought the Sena because it was the only motorcycle comm system that could be updated using a Mac. Don't know if that's still the case, but it's a factor to consider.

I got a pair of the SMH10 for SWMBO and myself, I really like them. There are a number of handy features, one of the biggest for me being audio sharing. For our anniversary we took a 325 mile ride up to a cabin I rented, and I used my phone for music and gps. With the audio sharing, it sent the music and directions to both our headsets - with her following on her Sporty, it let her know to watch for me changing lanes or turning, etc, without having to actually use the intercom and possibly miss a step.

Of course, that killed my battery - I only got about 7 hours out of it that day. Thankfully you can plug them in and use them still, we still had 30 minutes and a number of back roads to find. She still had plenty of charge left when we got there though. Oh, and there was almost 5 hours worth of rain that we rode through... no problems then or since with the units.

So to Update!
I ended up getting me the SMH10 and my wife the SMH5. I think I would have been just as happy with the SMH5, it's smaller and except for the extra range on the intercom there did not appear to be that much different. I paired with my cell phone and was able to play my music and then while standing in my living room with my helmet on I used my home phone and called my cell, amazing, it works. I bought the SMH10 to get the mount that I could used either the speakers or attach ear buds. I decided I would try the speakers out first. I rode today and they worked great. With my helmet, its a little tight on my ears. Wife had to work today so I haven't tried the intercom yet, and I have not received any calls while riding yet. When my wife gets a chance to ride with me I'll give another update. These are the best things since slice bread, so far!

Rjk, Scala products' update software is Mac compatible. Major factor in my book too; I don't own anything with Windows on it!

im a fan of the Scala Rider as well, easy to use and good quality sound, auto volume adjustment and noise cancelling microphone that actually works.

Exactly; my wife hates bluetooth headsets and can always tell when I'm calling from one, but couldn't tell with the Q3. Plus you can program it with a phone number to dial upon triple-clicking the big button.

I'm using a pair of Chatterbox units in our HJC helmets. They work OK, but are hard to do anything with if you are wearing gloves.
