You’ll have a great time. I was curious since their catalogue was so big, what songs they would do. Believe it or not, Wikipedia has an article on the No Filters tour. The first concert in Hamburg began with Sympathy For the Devil, went on for nineteen other songs, including Under My Thumb, and Street Fighting Man, ending with (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. The encore was Gimme Shelter and Jumpin Jack Flash. :excited:

Seen 'em twice and they were old then. I am pretty sure they have a running betting who will croak on live stage first.

Their longevity is unmatched. Okay, there is Bobby Dylan.

[Cormanus]

Just for the sake of relevance to motorcycling, I assume you’ll ride to see them, Houtman. Or are you with the security detail?

[Houtman_imp]

No I will drive to Jacksonville , only about 6 hors from my house.
I have seen them probably 25 times and at one time drove 12 hours one way to see them.
The reverence to motorcycles in this tread is that I will be on the lookout for CB 1100 's while driving....

The one and only time I saw the Stones live was their Steel Wheels tour in Oct 1989 in Dallas.
Man,what a show that was!

[Cormanus]

I decided I’d like to see them last time they toured. When I looked at the ticket price it was bordering on the obscene. That was coupled with the performance being in a venue I’d pay to avoid. So I didn’t sign up.

[peterbaron]

...so, what is now-days ticket price range..???
..John, how much did you pay for your ticket(s)??

They've been playing together for 55 years. They're in their mid 70s. :worship: When I think of the people I know who are in their 70s, there's not a whole lot of rockin' going on.

Good classic bands appear to not involve sponsors - The Eagles for example (god bless Glenn Frey). So their prices are steep, but in the case of The Eagles, and arguably the greatest rock band out of the U.S., the prices were well worth it. Saw the them twice, a ticket was on the order of $150C each for mid seats and that is cheap because it was some time ago.

U2 typically don't use sponsors, but the Stones used to. Nevertheless, due to their limited life expectancy I expect low-to-mid tier tickets to start at around $150C. However, with all the crap of "online middle brokers", that price can climb. I could be undershooting here.

Fantasy: If Led Zeppelin ever toured again, I would easily pay $1K per ticket and I am confident I wouldn't be alone. Many would sell their grandchildren to do the same.

Less Fantasy: I heard if ABBA toured (and it is a non-zero possibility), their payday would be on the order of $1B. Deny away, but they would command attention of all old and new generations.

Don't punish me for bringing up Zeppelin and ABBA on the same thread comment.

I wouldn't pay $1K if all four of the Beatles got back together for a gig, and I'm a big Beatle Fan. I did pay $4.50 to see them at Crosley Field in Cincinnati in 1966

Like I said, Fantasy. John Bonham would have to be alive. His son could be a good proxy and most would ponder that.

I recently saw McCartney - fun show for sure. But to "see John Lennon" and "see George Harrison" play (and no Michael Jackson holography tricks) with the other two, um, yeah, $1K is too easy. Some pay more than that to go to a college bowl game.

What good times when many of these bands were in their prime and the CB750 surprised the riding landscape to eventually rule it.

$1K ~ $740 USD

[LongRanger_imp]

College Bowl game... Yep. I just paid $525 to attend the Notre Dame / Navy game a few weeks ago in San Diego. This past weekend I was searching ticket prices for the upcoming CFP semi-final at the Capital One Orange Bowl (hopefully #3 Notre Dame vs. #2 Clemson). Nothing decent for less than $1000-$1200, and the teams aren't even confirmed yet. Think I'll watch it from home!

[peterbaron]

..so, make ticket price story short, extra few hundred buck$/year spent on my CB is justified

[Houtman_imp]

I paid Just under $ 500 for the ticket to see them in Jacksonville in 2019.
In 2015 they played in Raleigh NC and I paid $ 800 , in 2012 I drove from Asheville to Newark NJ to see their 50 year anniversary tour and paid close to $ 1000.
Saw them 3 times in September 2002 :Boston , NY City and Philadelphia.
In February 2003 flew from Binghamton NY to Las Vegas to see them together with my son whom lived in Scottsdale at that time and spend over $ 3000 to see the Stones.
Every time I go I think "This Could Be The Last Time" ( for them OR me !) My wife and I worked both very hard all our life and now we can enjoy the fruits of that.

Interestingly, the Rolling Bones can still perform. Charlie Watts is getting up there beating on those skins.

Yea, I would never pay more than $25 to watch a sporting event.... be it baseball, football, soccer, boxing... whatever. Even the Superbowl. I just don't understand and can't fathom paying $1000 or more for a seat to watch anything. That's a year's worth of tires and oil changes for my bike. Different priorities I guess.

I did get sucked into paying $80 to watch a Joe Bonomassa concert. A buddy asked if I wanted to go, and that he would pick up the tickets and I could pay him back. Had never heard of the guy but my buddy said he was a great guitar player. Thinking it would be $25 or something I said ok. When we got there he handed me my ticket and it said $80 on it and I almost fainted. Are you kidding me? The guy was good, (great guitar player as advertised) and I enjoyed the show, but I didn't enjoy it $80 worth.
