Puig Dark Smoke Naked on '14 std

My Puig windscreen came in yesterday ( Amazon $44.95) and it took @ 20 minutes to install it. The destructions weren't specific or clear on whether the mounting tabs go between the Headlamp and support or outside of it but after mounting it both ways I decided on outside of the support, at least for now. Other than that its simple.

The mounting brackets appeared to be stainless but were magnetic so I'll have to keep an eye on them for rust. I wasn't going to do the spark test.

I think it looks OK but maybe a little too dark. Not at all like my Givi on the 599. God I love this bike!

Looks great in dark smoke on your bike. I mounted mine with the bracket on the inside. Love my Puig.

The screen comes with two adhesive pads. I attached these on what would be the contact area of the screen. No problems.

Yeah, I found your other post regarding the Puig plus Redbirds. Yours is a '13 correct? When I purchased the Puig it was not listed for the '14, but for $45 bucks I thought it was worth the risk. When I installed it on the inside however, the pads were nearly impossible to fit.

I think the dark smoke goes great with your blacked-out '14 Standard.

Since you're (rightly) concerned about that steel bracket rusting, why not black it and the factory bucket mount out with a rattle-can spray paint job? The headlight brackets are really easy to remove and replace.

I mounted a Puig on the outside but noticed some small scratches on the headlight bracket when I took it off. I think inside looks better.

I will consider the brackets but not the factory supports, I need something on the bike that's not black. Incidentally, I did query Puig on the metallurgy of the brackets.

I would still like to stuff the brackets behind the supports like Redbird did (against the headlamp) because it obviously looks nicer, but its so darn tight in there. I'll figure something out even if I have to fashion new brackets.

You should be able to put a washer between the headlight, the bracket, and each of their mounting points to wident the space for the screen bracket to drop inside.
