I opted for the SW Motech guards in black. The black blends with the frame and makes it look more like the bike came with them in my opinion. Then again, I have the black Yosh exhaust and header so everything sort of blends together on my bike. If I was going chrome, I'd go with the OEM guards

Totally go for stainless steel engine guards. No maintenance.
The engine guard is 1.25" diameter SS pipe. That is Buffalo, NY in the background.

I really like the design and look of my SW Motech guards. If you buy them, use the mounting bolts they come with, not the OEM engine mounting bolts. See this thread as to why:
