Long story short. Bought a used 2013 CB1100(from a forum member). On the pics it had engine guards on. Thought I was getting the guards but between the time of posting and sale, the seller sold the guards to someone on this forum. Which is fine. The bike is is amazing condition despite having a garage tip over. When I got the bike It had a few Super slow leaks that needed to be addressed (crankcase covers) and top gasket. I only noticed cause I’m OCD. Honestly a lot of it was so minor and the owner only put 8000 miles on it in the entire time he owned it. I don’t think it’s something he would’ve really noticed.
Upon delivery of the bike And giving it a thorough inspection (Took my time) test drove, etc. Bought it. A few hundred miles later and having to replace the cover seals I noticed some paint off the frame as well as this dimple. I’m assuming that’s where the U joint from the crashguards hooked up and eventually “bit” into the paint etc.
Just to be clear. I don’t know if the owner knew/thought it was a big deal or if I hit something on the road in my few hundred miles of ownership. Don’t think I did. The bike performs as it should and tracks straight, no weirdness at high speed 85mph and up...
So need some opinions:
Is the frame compromised in any way? Am I being too dumb and ocd about this?
I was going to put engine guards on, but after seeing how they mount with that U joint will that hold up? Suggested brand?
Or call my insurance and make a claim?

The assumption is probably correct.
Is the frame compromised?
No, not for normal use. Sure, the dimple has a minor effect in being a stress raiser, however it would only affect the strength of tube in bending to the point where it would buckle. In all other load conditions (i.e. torsion, compression and stretch) it would have no effect.
Am I being too dumb and ocd about this?
Yes, a little. If you are really bothered about it, have a local bodyshop fill and paint the dimple so you can't see it anymore.
Call the insurance company?
Likely the excess on the policy would cost more than having a tiny blow-in done with an airbrush,

If you have an insurance deductible, it may not be worth it.

Some companies will total a bike with ANY frame damage. Be careful.

That’s what I thought. I’m being dumb. Yeah, not worth putting money into it. My wife rolled her eyes when I pointed it out. That kinda dimple could happen at any time with just riding it. road debris etc. I think I wanna put the motech crashguards on it at some point since I do wanna put some knobbies on it after these tires wear down. Looking like a lot of the guards have a similar mounting pattern. Any that you guys suggest? I want the guards but I might leave them off if they’re gonna bite into the frame eventually. The other side has a little wear mark where the paint used to be as well...
Thanks for the advice!

Yeah that was my other thought. Obviously the bike isn’t totaled... I do have full coverage... so I’m wondering if it would be worth it. They would probably pay in blue book on it. I did buy it used so I don’t have too much invested...

Just put some primer and than a top coat over it to prevent rust.

Agreed 100%: That dimple there will do nothing, due to the load conditions of the frame in that area. (pure compression, or bending in the plane of the dimple would be different)
Just make sure there is no metal exposed that could rust.
Also, I would put OEM engine guards with total peace of mind.

Cool, can you post a link to those OEM ones? What do you think about the motechs?

IMHO the best looking & elegant crash bars are chrome and OEM.
Up to you to make a decision as to which ones you want to install.
Here are a few, not OEM

Maybe this is OEM, as advertised...no pic tho
