if the abs module is seeing a brief period of low pressure at the sensor ( i assume it has one internally) by the trapped air being compressed, it would/could throw a code.
1st rule of diagnostics is: whats the last thing you touched? in this case, bleeding the system.
I didn't (want to) see it this way, but you are absolutely right. Problems started with a lot of delay, but the last thing I did .... months ago ...was changing the brake fluid. What doesn't fit is the fact that the ABS light does even when out on a straight road without touching the brakes. In this case the pressure inside the system should be constant. In other words the assumed sensor does not see a pressure change.
But you're putting me on a lead ... it's not much work, and the fluid is cheap. And it's due for a swap in a few months anyway.

At least you have fluid. Seems rare in my local community.

Been thinking of doing [maybe] a brake system flush. Unconvinced, but it would be a first for me in about 40 years. Every time I am keen on getting some DOT4 brake fluid for the little beasts, no stock. (*sigh*)
Didn't mean to get you somewhat excited Gecko.

...or I supply DOT4 + the equipment and you/we do it together at my house garage, your choice....but if you screw up your bike during the flushing procedure, you might be forced to walk back to Burlington, 50 kms...
Let me know, so I can set up everything ready for ya.

Riding into bowels is not recommended by any motorcycle manufacturer.
