I'm running the Metzeler Z8's for about 3 months now. Compared to the squared-off stock tires that they replaced, it was a bit freaky (at first) at how quickly the bike would lean over with the Metzelers. Now that they're scrubbed in and I'm used to them, I like them, and like them much better than stock BT-54's.

Others—Aussieflyer and Django maybe—have spoken well of the Metzlers.

To make it clear it was a Roadtec z8.

There is a whole thread devoted to the Metzeler Interac Z8:

This winter I need two new front tires for my 13 and 14. When at MR Motorcycles in Asheville today I bought the Michelin PR 4 for $ 156 including taxes , not a bad price I think . The size is 120/70 as the 110/80 is not available any more in the Michelin PR range.
I like to support our (good) local dealer if I can.

It's that time again...I finally wore through my Michelin PR3 front tire at over 19k miles. what a great tire!!! I'm sad to say, however that i probably won't buy another set. it seems i can only find very old stock. this tire, for example, was made in 2012. if i continue shopping for them i imagine i will find even older stock.
This means it's time to finally decide on a new set of tires. i'm big into symmetry, so i'd like to avoid mix and match sets. The original bridgestones I hated. I don't like what i've heard about the mileage wear on Metzelers and Pirellis, Continental has a lot of good tires, but Houtman's Trail Attack 3 looks like it's part dual sport, and i don't think they make the proper front tire for our bike. If you're not running Michelin Pilot Road tires and you're getting excellent high mileage with good confidence in the turns, what are you riding?

P.S. I've got one recommendation for Avon Spirit ST tires as a doggone fine sport touring tire with over 14k reported miles on the rear tire..

I have taken a few rides with the PR 4 and really like them , even better than the PR 3 but of course going from a worn PR 3 to a new tire will make it ride better . The Continental Trail Attack rear tires are 90/10 ( 90 road/ 10 off road ) I very much like them but would not use them as a front tire.

Ok, I think I can say for sure I've found a true successor to the mighty Michelin PR3. It's that tire that occupies a sweet spot of having extreme mileage, spot on rain performance, and is wider than stock to provide that grippy sport touring experience in the turns. I got a set of Avon Spirit STs and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Now that all the remaining PR3's are running out around the world and the ones i'm able to buy are old as dirt, it's good to know there's an even better tire out there that's in production.

They even look remarkably like the PR3, but they are by no means a pale imitation. Now that i've done enough miles to mostly break them in, I can say that they feel better than the original. my mid corner confidence is up, and the bike seems to tip so much more readily. Of course, this is my first set, so I can't report personally on mileage, but I've read multiple reports of people running these on Honda ST1300s and other sport touring bikes with more power than our CB and getting between 14000 and 15000 miles out of the rear tire! I'll check back in a year to report real world wear on the front and rear, but I think it's going to be durable as all get out.
Price was even a non factor. I paid just $10 more for this set ($225) than i did for the last set of closeout Michelin PR3's i bought. For any of you out there looking for a replacement for your out of production michelin tires, this is the one.

Awesome Mr. P. Good to have as many options as possible for the CB.
