2014 CB1100 Now On Honda's Website!

It is quite fascinating to see how many posts there are from owners of the current 2013 model who are champing at the bit to get the latest 2014. From my POV, I just cannot find anything flawed in the visual of the 2013 US model. The guy who designed it took his time and had a free hand, and in my view he got the classic styling cues just right. The polished aluminum case and valve covers contrast with the dark gunmetal gray of the engine to really set it off as the centerpiece of the bike, but not in an overstated way. It's less money to manufacture a completely blacked-out engine, so those details are a result of extra work put into the bike. Same for the 4-into-1 exhaust. That's polished stainless steel. Mine's getting this lovely saffron sheen after a couple of thousand miles, characteristic of stainless steel. It'll never rust or corrode, either, unlike chrome. The dual exhausts are going to be a bit heavier and certainly can't help with performance; they're chromed, which in time may flake, rust, or just get chipped off. That's a visual only, no advantage or performance increase at all. Higher bars? I was thinking of going to the lower, Japanese-spec option, if anything. I've gotten used to the stock bars, higher than anything else in my garage except the BMW. So they'll stay put. Nothing's going to change on my 2013. Different isn't always better, it's just different. I think they got the 2013 as "right" as it could be gotten. They're now going for a alternative styling, and that strikes a sympathetic note with many riders. But let's just not throw the baby out with the bathwater here.

Yup. That's why pics of the '13 show a darker, slightly bronzed look on the headers, rather than the bright shiny chrome color of the muffler.

Personally, I was surprised that Honda did that. While aftermarket 4 into 1 pipes have usually used single wall stainless pipes (and showed the darker, flatter color), I don't recall ever seeing anything but double wall chrome on stock exhausts from the factory.

I'm also thinking that there will be some stock 4 into 2 pipe sets available after the '14s have been out for awhile.

It's almost a UJM tradition to ditch stock multi-pipes for a 4 into 1. It's what made MAC, Yoshimura, V&H and Kerker famous.

I think that's one of the reasons Honda went with a 4 into 1 on the original CB11.

For certain. It just looks right. So those of us who want to try a dual system can pick 'em up on ebay for a song. Count me out, of course.

I was just sitting outside my local coffee shop staring at my bike, and could not find a single thing I would change about it. I wanted it to look like a period piece; that was the appeal that sold it, along with the great functionality of that brick of an 1140cc engine and terrific brakes. I don't need no stinking sixth gear nor a gear position indicator, nor an outside temperature indicator, tire pressure readout, stability control, or advanced trip computer. I've got other bikes with all that. The way things are going, in the next couple of years, the CB1100 will have gone to 17" wheels with a 160 section rear tire, full ABS/traction control, and so on. And then what's the point?

The only thing I'd change, possibly, is to buy the chromed plastic cover for the gage cluster. That would look nice.

Looks like they get different silver and black depending on whether it's a standard or EX. Also looks like the Japanese standard will have the blacked out engine, and the EX will have the silver engine.

Outstanding! Eye Candy is what that shade of gray is. Melo and distinguished.
I wonder why Japan keeps the good stuff and send us the leftovers?
