A drop dead gorgeous '14 CB in red livery. It appeared to be completely stock. First one I've seen as my local dealer is still trying to sell the '13 that they still have. I suppose Beaverton Honda has them, but I haven't visited ol' Bob for a while. Anyway, CB's seem as rare as hen's teeth in my part of the country so it's fun to see one. Owning a bike that's rather scarce makes my Honda special & that adds to the cool factor.Ol' Bob has a '13 & '14 STD in their inventory, listed at full price.

When I had mine at Deals Gap, TN....Tail of the Dragon center...there were at 100+ motorcycles there, mine was the only CB...generated quite a bit of interest...I've always liked not being part of the crowd so it fits my personality!

I've seen 2 here in Florida... a 13 just 2 weeks ago coming off the bridge leading onto Clearwater Beach and then another 13 parked in front of a bar on Treasure Island a few months ago. Then last year north of Dahlonega Ga. I saw 3 pulling into the parking lot of a local bike dealer as I was leaving. But that's it in 18 months of ownership.

I am very excited to have found a Deluxe. I had been riding the 2013 which I absolutely loved - but I really wanted the sixth gear as I do like to be on the highway periodically- I was also excited by the new stitched retro looking seat, larger tank and four-into-two exhaust. it has a cool set of info available too on the onboard computer , like mpg, remaining fuel display and of course the gear indicator (handlebar switches are a little improved ergonomically for lights switches etc etc).
So last week I sold my 2013 on ebay - lost a ton but such is life. In fact it sold pretty quickly for $6500 and then I started the hunt for a DLX. I called and emailed every dealer in the South East (I live near Atlanta) without success and was resigned to a black 2014 as my likely next ride (albeit that is awesome bike too) - but one friendly dealer told me while he no longer had a DLX in his showroom - he could spot one at a dealer in Knoxville TN from his "inside the wire" searches. I called this dealer immediately and sure enough they had one, apparently the phone buzzing with people wanting it, but said they would hold it for me (they could clearly tell I was serious - I did them it would be the fasted transaction of the month). So I jumped in my truck, with motorcycle trailer in tow and drove 3+ hours to Knoxville, wrote a check and brought it home - the dealer had the bike prepped and ready to go (the entire transaction took 20mins from pulling in to pulling out - half of this time was loading the bike onto the trailer) - every customer of the store came out to see the bike as we loaded it up - it is a head turner for sure. The dealer told me it was probably one of only a handful left as they can no longer get them from Honda (guessing now everyone will wait for 2015). I paid $11,600. On the way home I stopped for gas and a pack of Harley riders came over to ask "what is that?" - they agreed to bike had the cool factor - a very enjoyable conversation with like minded biking enthusiasts. By the time I got back home my wife was eager to go to dinner (it was our anniversary after all). So I unloaded the bike - which looks awesome - and parked it in my garage along side a couple of other motorcycle toys (this is my favorite I promise). I have not even had chance to ride it - now I am waiting for the sun to come up so I can get on the road. Right now I have a 2014 CB1100 DLX sitting in my garage with 1 mile on the odometer. Offers north of $150,000 may be considered before the bike is ridden - but right now (and assuming $150K is a little silly) I am putting on my helmet and heading for the open road - and am very very excited. |
