#31
Actually it looks like they are located very close..neighboring states of Montana and Oregon, USA?

Well then, I'm at a loss for an explanation. Could they also check the engine numbers? If they also match, then I'll say it's a production line glitch.

Given the importance of VINs to regulators, particularly police and other law enforcement bodies, I would be very surprised indeed if there was a factory glitch. I'd like to see photos of the two compliance plates.

Mine was sold as a factory demo, came complete with full warranty, incentives, and I purchased from the dealership. What is the plate picture provide that I didn't provide? My dealership paperwork matches the plate and I already have provided the entire vin number. There is one digit that does not match, daley has a non abs, I have an abs. My model number is CB 1100A. So in my humble opinion the vin numbers don't match.

I'd agree..1 number difference is a different serial number whether it's the9th or 17th digit

I'm really sorry to be a party pooper, but there cannot be two VINs where all digits except the 9th are different. The 9th digit of the VIN is critical to whether or not the VIN is genuine. It is designed to be—and is—calculated from the remaining digits. There can be only one answer from that calculation.

Go to [url=http://alton-moore.net/vin_calculation.html]this site and input your VIN with an 'x' for the 9th digit. It will do the calculation and tell you what the correct VIN should be. Alternatively, simply substitute any other number or "X" and it will tell you whether it is correct or not.

It's all quite scientific. Example, Ferret: if I've read the parts catalogue correctly, it's a fair bet the 9th digit of your DLX's VIN is "X" and that the 9th digit of your 2013 CB1100 bike's VIN was '3'. Tell me the year of your ST and the last 4 digits of its VIN and I can probably tell you the rest of it reasonably quickly.

Edit: We were posting at the same time, Gossman. Thanks for pictures.

Yes. That's what I meant.

If your ST is a ST1300 the 9th digit should be "8"; if it's an ST1300A, it should be "4".
