I thought this was odd that HONDA was the number 1 motorcycle brand stolen in 2018.

you should have bought a DELUXE
2014 Honda CB1100 DLX
2002 Honda CB750 Nighthawk

Does seem a bit strange. Maybe they're easier to nick than other brands?

Not surprised since HONDA sold the most bike and YAMAHA is #2.
California has the most motorcycle user and again, it is the #1 state with the most theft.
What I do not understand is the HD, due to the high value, it should have come in 3rd IMO.

Like popular cars like Civics and Accords which are stolen for parts, popular bikes are probably stolen for parts to fix damaged bikes.

Not surprised theft dropped during the bowels of winter.
Can't imagine CB1100 being a common favourite. They are not many of these heavy beasts around.
RE Triumphs: 64% high recovery rate - what happened? Out of gas? Boredom? Can't be breakdown, they are not Ducati.

Honda CBR's #1 stolen bike in USA.
Dirt bikes and ATV's and UTV's a high #2
Basically, anything popular will be stripped for parts and sold on.

+1 Yep, this is exactly what I was told by my friend, Ed, who was a Detroit police officer back in the mid-80s! Some things change only very slowly, like Honda's penchant for building popular and durable cars AND motorcycles, which unwittingly has contributed to a vast black aftermarket for parts obtained by questionable means...!
