yes lets not get carried away here. If I sent this off on the wrong track I apologize but we are not going to get into world politics or issues.

Hopefully Ferret will allow me this last reply on the subject: My whole point was to respond to the reply about who is considered affluent and how it was used in the demographics of certain model buyers, specifically the CB1100. It very apparently wasn't clearly explained (on my part) and caused an affront to several of our members. It wasn't meant in a geo-political reference to assert the supremacy of any particular country at all. This is what I didn't articulate very well. I should have added that by 'default any number of countries in which you reside in" would make you eligible to be called affluent when compared the rest of the world as a whole. BTW, nobody caught on that I didn't move the decimal point and that the correct percentage should have been 4.2% for the US population as a portion of the global pop number. For those of you that responded to my reply but did not catch this error, expect increased scrutiny of your posts in the future when you are referencing numerical technical specs.

Now back to the CB1100R concept. If any debate should happen about targeted demographics this bike should prompt it.

1) It has an air cooled motor that prob won't be producing anything north of 100hp.

2) It has a more rounded fairing that is appropriate for the retro correct period but is still a departure from what you would see on the current class of bikes.

3) The bike holds it all together with some exceptionally nice styling touches (dual round taillights in one cluster under the tail section), dual shocks, the current exhaust as mounted etc.

4) I'm not a fan of those red gauges and those gold rims are out of place.

If the bike made it here I would be compelled to go to the dealer and look at it. As it looks in the pics now I'm comfortable saying I wouldn't buy it. If the bike had black/silver rims, they didn't go to a mono-shock rear suspension as hinted in the article, AND if they added mounting points that would allow either factory (preferred) or aftermarket hard removable luggage I'd be on the fence and probably leaning towards purchase. I'm pretty sure that ergo's wouldn't be a primary factor in my decision as I ride a much smaller café bike for up to 200+ miles in a day and my assumption here is that CB1100R would have a more open seating arrangement, if even just a little over my other bike. If the aforementioned conditions were met I'd overlook the gauges and it would be hard for me not to seriously consider bringing it home even with the considerable overlap of purpose with having a CB1100 already in the garage.

I have no clue based on the yet unknown HP numbers who their primary customer target group would be. I suspect, based on my comments above I'm at least on the periphery of unknown target group.

If Honda could pull it off, a reintroduced, period-correct 750 four cylinder in "K" trim (4 into 4 pipes, spokes, chrome fenders, neutral ergonomics) would catch my attention today. No plastic, no beak, no black rims, no ADV or Scrambler in the model description.

Not as early as the one pictured but I put 136000 glorious miles upon an 86 Aspencade. What a great bike never never let me down

Those Aspencades were pretty bikes too... still don't understand why they didn't sell well.

But, buyers can be picky... the CB1100 is a case in point.

More rumblings from Honda thru my Flipboard that Honda intends to produce a NEW CB11 and perhaps the R for someone on the planet. 60% of the country is under 40 years old. CB750 Four? Who? But yeah, let's hope a new generation gets the bug!
