Awesome, that looks much better!
Let us know how it is 2 up, I'm very happy with the stock seat riding solo, but would like a Corbin that looks just like yours if it makes 2 up riding easier and more enjoyable for both riders.

Guth,

This site is bloody amazing. It was really bugging me that my new seat didn't say HONDA on the back like the original. And boom, you have a solution. I was chatting with Ferret earlier today and I told him I have learned more about this bike in 30 days here than I would have learned in ten years on my own. Thanks!!

Chip they make fabric paint pens. I used a gold one to fill in the embossed Triumph logo on the back of my 03 Bonneville. You can get them at fabric stores or hobby shops. you could probably get a silver one for doing the logo on the back of yours but would probably have to either freehand or make your own Honda logo stencil.

I've obviously been having a lot of fun with my new CB1100. At some point I'd like to take this bike on a long trip up the coastline in California but after an hour or so I find the stock seat uncomfortable and I keep sliding forward. I think the stock seat on the CB1100 looks perfect on this bike however and I am loath to change it. I ride two up on a regular basis so he gunfighter type solo seat would not work for me. I have had Corbin seats built for some of my other motorcycles and have been very happy with them, especially after they break in. Their catalog offering for the CB1100 on their website looked a little too different from stock for me so I called them up and asked them if they would build a custom seat, deleting all of the tuck and roll stitching, deleting the holes, mounting brackets, and leather flaps that are incorporated in order to accommodate their optional backrest, and with no welts. I wanted the leather Corbin seat to duplicate the smooth black vinyl of the stock seat as closely as possible. They were happy to make me a seat as I requested it and did not charge me for the modifications.

Although I've only gone for a short ride so far so I cannot comment yet on long-term comfort, this seat positions me farther back, does not cause me to slide forward, the leather seating area is more comfortable than the vinyl on the stock seat, and because of its shape a much greater percentage of my butt is in contact with, and supported by, this seat and it certainly seems more comfortable so far. The passenger part of the seat is definitely more comfortable as well as being slightly higher. The cost of the seat was $453, about the same as many of the non-custom seats that are not made of genuine leather that are listed on the Japanese websites.

The first three photos below are of my new Corbin seat. The second three photos are of the stock seat taken from the same angles. The last photograph is of the standard Corbin seat for the CB1100 incorporating their tuck and roll stitching which many people may prefer. All the best.

Having had a dozen or so various aftermarket seats
I seem to get along really well with the Corbins.
(I like the firmer foam vs. the softer foam used on Sargents)
YOUR spec looks much nicer than their silly tuck and roll version.
NICE!

Darpo,

On my Corbin seat I probably sit about 1/4 inch lower than stock, but an inch or so farther back from the handlebars and I don't slide forward like I did before. Because I'm a bit farther back I lean forward just a bit more and out on the road the wind blast isn't quite as bad. The passenger sits about 3/4 inch higher. The Corbin foam is firmer than stock but it's memory foam and it molds to your shape and gets more comfortable over time. That's why they require breaking in. Just like in a car, sitting on a leather seat is more comfortable than sitting on a vinyl seat. That's probably the #1 reason I like Corbin seats. My order with Corbin was placed under the name "Charles Beck" (my legal name) from AZ and they could look up my specs under that. From the time I placed my order till it arrived at my door was about two and one half weeks. Cheers.

Chip

Chip: so how's the break in, long ride report coming? How comfortable is it?

Relative to the post thread "A problem for men..."

http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=827

Would you recommend this seat as a potential solution?

Love your seat spec, but would think returns would not be possible with a custom spec...?

Thanks for the follow-up info!

Bill,

Every Corbin seat is a custom spec seat as you have to choose leather and side colors, welt color or no welts, etc. I don't think they allow returns on any seat. I really want to get out on a day long ride but I have not had a chance. I'll be in Montana this weekend so it will be sometime after that. I do have about 4 hours on the seat and it's a huge improvement. I have never had my nuts go to sleep on any bike in 45 years of riding so I can't give you an opinion on that. My left hand goes to sleep from carpo-tunnel and I'll get that fixed with surgery.

Bottom line, I like the way my seat looks and feels. Can't wait to take it out with my new Road Comet faring for a day long cruse. Cheers.

Chip

hey Chip, I am also a born leftie and used to suffer from carpal tunnel for a long time and bought almost every gadget under the sun that claims to cure it. then i found this link below, I thought of giving it a shot and it cured for me in less than a month, less than month and i am healed , after years of spending too many dollars on stuff claiming to cure carpal.. I don't know wheter it would work for you,of course every person & the condition is different from one to another, but hey man,its definitely worth a shot and its FREE just a bit of commitment on a daily basis..
This is the source from which I got the info:-
