I'm probably making a mistake putting up pictures of a trophy room and will get blasted by those who don't like it. I dig hunting in Africa too. i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll161/chipbeck/LR3.jpg[/IMG]

Consider yourself blasted. You came out a lot better than the animals did.

Spaceman,

That I did. You registered your thought in a gentlemanly manner however and you are welcome at my home any time you're in AZ. On the plus side, just about all of the money spent on game conservation and anti poaching efforts in Africa comes from sport hunters. Most people don't know that Safari Club International, like Ducks Unlimited, is the most active and effective organization protecting and preserving all African animals. Habitat destruction, grazing, population growth, and poaching are the threats to these amazing animals. Most of Africa is a poverty ridden mess that makes Mexico look like a model of civil efficiency. 90% of the big game there today would not exist without the hundreds of millions spent by safari companies working together with government game departments to manage, protect, and preserve them. And even if you don't hunt, it's nice to know they are out there. Cheers.

Chip

Chip,

Well said. And some folks may not know that sportsman have supported conservation efforts for over 75 years through a 10% excise tax on firearms and ammo.

I've personally contributed a lot!

Thanks for the invite. I didn't want to kick off a battle over it; some of my best friends are hunters. But whatever gene there is that makes hunting appealing wasn't included in my set.

OK, so I got the plate cut and am all set to drill the two holes to mount the plate to the fender, but then I realized that I have know idea how to remove the old bracket. I assumed it was mounted with Phillips-head bolts, but it's not. I read the whole thread and couldnt find instructions for this part. Probably super simple, but if someone could give a guy a little guidance that would be great. Thanks.

There are two 10mm nuts under the fender to remove the existing bracket !

Well, that makes sense. I was operatining under the assumption that the holes in the fender were threaded. Never even thought to look for bolts on the under side. Thanks!

WA state requires reflectors on rear of bike.
Apparently there are a lot of un-endorsed/un-insured riders (kids on sportbikes) and police pull them over on these technicalities.
So, after doing this mod, I ordered the license plate bolts with reflective heads.

I got pulled over once on my CB11 for making a right hand turn on a red light (which is legal in AZ). It was a Friday night and the officer freely admitted he was just looking for drivers who were drinking. The moment I pulled my helmet off and he saw I was an older man his attitude changed and as I hadn't been drinking he wasn't interested in giving me a ticket. He told me he loved the bike and he looked it over closely. He did verify my insurance and motorcycle license endorsement. He didn't say a word about my rear license plate mod. We shook hands and I went on my way.

A lot of the sport bike kids have their plates tucked way up under the seat on the underside of the fender where you can barely see the plate. I doubt my plate mod would be noticed as it looks very stock. Cheers.

Chip
