Does anyone have Delkevic headers?
#1

As I'm sitting here broke down on I69 and I thought it would be a great time to order my Yoshimura RS3 slip on exhaust. But I dont think I'll like it as much with the gold stock headers. Do the Delkevic headers turn that gold and blue color? Will I need a tuner if I do this mod? Will there be a noticeable increase in power? Any help would be awesome!

The delky headers are cat free so...yes. you'll want a power commander or a tune to compensate. Also your bike is going to get significantly louder. I have cat free headers with a delkevic can and....its significant.

Consider getting the TSR snorkel delete and a performance air filter if you're going to get cat free headers. Theyre cheap add-ons and they'll complete the effect more.

Very cool! This sounds a lil in depth, but worth it imo. Have you done all of this? And have you noticed the gains? How has the header pipe held up, and discoloration?

My exhaust wasn't much, if any louder on the staintune and stock header than when I put on the Arrow header.

The TSR makes 1-2whp at very high RPM when full throttle- that's it.

I doubt the air filter does ANYTHING. The stock filter flows waay more CFM than our engine requires.

If you're changing headers, the snorkel and air filter bit are much easier. Believe me, this is coming from somebody who is allergic to buying tools and hard work.

Some tips: pay special attention to the o2 sensor accommodations in your new header. Youre going to have to either have a place to plug your or on sensor into the new headers, or use the or sensor delete cap that comes with your power commander. Theres a special wierd wrench just for removing an O2 sensor. I didn't know this until the whole thing was in a million pieces. You dont wanna be there. Get one ahead of time, because it's not something you'll be able to run out and buy.

If you're getting a power commander instead of a flash you'll have to get a bit computer savvy to add the new fuel map to it. Youll also have to find one. Theres a good one from TSR that others have mentioned.

As far as power gains, yes the power gains are there, and others have done those things with the same results. But its not like some huge night and day experience. However...I also took my front sprocket down. A tooth and my ear sprocket up 2 teeth. Thats like the salt and pepper on the steak. You really **feel** the new power if you do that.

TSR has their own fuel maps for download?

I could be wrong- but I thought their map was for their velocity stacks on the throttlebodies.

I have put Del Kelvic Complete systems on two GS Suzukis, a 750 and 1100 and both of the headers turned bluish/gold. From what I see they would be better exhaust systems if they would double wall the headers, but the price would go up quite a bit, and their low price and looks (and sound) is what sells so many.

Thanks for info michael1954. Going through my options, maybe keeping the stock header and getting a Jet Hot classic chrome ceramic coating would be my best option this winter.
