Gentlemen,
A few days ago I finally got around to putting on my 19 tooth front sprocket. When I got the inner case cover off to reveal the stock 18 tooth sprocket I saw that it looked completely different than the 19 tooth replacement. The stock front sprocket is very heavy, thick, and has a lot of rubber armoring on both the inside and outside surfaces. I assume that rubber armoring is to dampen vibration but I'm not sure. Is this correct? I can't imagine why Honda would make this part rubber armored without a reason. Perhaps the edges of the chain touch down on the rubber edge and it calms down vibration there.
The new 19 tooth sprocket fits and works perfectly BUT, the bike does seem to vibrate a bit more despite the lower RPM's. Is this possible or is it all in my head? Has anybody else that has made this switch experienced this? All the best.
