Fumoto Valve Fit Question
#1
Does anyone have one of these? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HTV2N4E?psc=1
14mm drain plug, I like the easy access versions.

Next week I'm going to be getting a '14 base model and noticed the service interval for the oil changes is 2x what I'm used to, so I thought I'd throw a Fumoto valve on there to make it go a little quicker/cleaner. Does anyone have one on their bike? If so, was it a PITA to install? It seems like there's a little ridge near the drain bolt that may prevent it from fitting, but since I don't have the bike yet I can't say for sure.

I'd be concerned that the ball valve could somehow rotate itself open, or partially open, while riding...

You can get a version that's harder to open, and they can come with a clip-in cover for those so the valve is physically locked into place until you remove said clip.

An interesting gadget, but I'm old school and don't mind doing it the old fashioned way.
That said, I'm not so old school that I dismiss new ideas. If anyone gets one I would be interested in hearing how well it fits and works.

Didn't know there's a harder- to- open version...well that changes the picture for sure.
I may get one for my Husaberg dirt bike, which has a 10 hour oil change interval, or ~200-250 miles, ie, a full weekend's ride.

I'll probably end up trying it out and if I do, I'll definitely document it for the forum. I don't really mind the 4,000mi interval, though it kinda stinks. Living in an apartment means anything I can do to make it easier is a big help.

I have one on my 2008 Land Cruiser. Its tucked up behind a skid plate so I have no worries of it becoming knocked open. But on the CB it would seem to stick down further than the plug and the raised area on the pan. I could see something getting caught on it.

I like the idea but would be worried it would stick down so far that going thru a pot hole or over a speed bump would damage it.

I'd second that too. I've hit the two little metal stalactites that hang down at the front of the oil pan by accident going over some particularly tall speed-bumps, I definitely wouldn't want anything important hanging down there that low.

I have one on my Toyota Tacoma and love it. Once it's on you don't have to worry about changing out crush washer and/or stripping threads. It's as simple as turning on a valve and letting the oil flow out. Also, there are different variations available based on ground clearance. Also, there's a little plastic safety clip that locks into place that prevents accidental opening of the valve.

All of that said, would I use it on my CB? Yes if I put on as many miles as some of you but my mileage is pretty low. Annual oil changes is about all I do so I will continue to do it the old fashioned way.
