Even if it were I would replace it every time just to be on the safe side. Rubber hardens with heat cycles and once removed will never seal properly again.

Its a rubber type, but is only 33.50 on parts fish. Following Randy's advice is not a bad idea.

I think $320 to check valves is excessive. Removing the tank and getting to the cam covers is not at all difficult on this bike. My Triumph Tiger 1050 required removing the plastic side trim, tank removal and air box just to get to the cam covers. I easily accomplished this in less than 15 minutes. From there, removing the plugs and covers is easy. Valve inspection itself requires nothing more than rotating the crank and checking clearances with a gauge.

I should clarify that I did need adjustment on my last check (18,000 miles) and they replaced a number of shims.

Had mine checked at 16,000 miles and they did not need adjustment because they were within spec. Cost was $165.00 (Nebraska money).

had my 12.000km service done (equivalent to a 8.000 miles service)
Valve check AND a new stock rear tire, (dunlop sportmax d205) all for 320USD. Dealer charged 3hours of work in total. The tire alone was 180USD. Edit: no adjustment needed. One valve was a little bit off but still well within spec.

KennyB pays $85/hour for shop time. I wish I could find that rate around here! The Honda dealer here gets $122.50/hour.

How much have you paid for this service? Hi, My CB is due for an 8k mile servicing. Not sure if it needs valve adjustment. I took the bike to my dealer, but they are quoting 900 for the general servicing and valve adjustment if needed. which dealer did you take your bike to ? I'm from Long beach , CA. Lee. |
