my latest FOBO news... I emailed back and forth with the fobo guys, telling them of an issue I had with my FOBO Bike app.. where, with new 2032 energizers the battery levels didn't show completely charged .. they suggested deleting my FOBO Bike app and installing the FOBO 2 app.. I was able to keep all of my fobo data and "migrate" over .. tomorrow will be telling, when I go out to my shop and check my pressures..

good news at the shop today.. the pressures were right there for me.. I noticed the refresh rate seems to be much faster now !! .. I can't be positive until I fill my tires with a little air, when topping them off.. in the past with the FOBO Bike app it would take about 30 seconds to register the added air pressure.. then I would add a little more, then wait another 30 seconds before it shows up on my iPhone.. do that 3or 4 times to get the pressure just where you want it and those 30 second waits add up.. now with the FOBO 2 app, it seems to refresh every 15 seconds.. that will be another test .. I also customized my FOBO 2 display, getting rid of that blue sports bike and installing a pic of my beauty..

now that I have the new batteries in my "migrated" FOBO2 app, I will make a notation, as to the date of install.. then I will see how long the fobo1 sensors last, using the fobo2 app.. I would advise anyone with a FOBO1, to do a free upgrade to the FOBO2 app.. they don't really support the fobo1 anymore and you can get new features.. there is a certain procedure when "migrating" (fobo's term) from fobo1 to fobo2, so there are a few very basic steps to follow.. I won't go in to them now.. I noticed a problem with the fobo1 app.. when I installed fresh, name brand batteries, the battery level indicator on the app showed less than full capacity.. when I migrated to the fobo2 app, the problem was solved..

I wasn't very clear... the new batteries are in my old fobo1 sensors, then the sensors, using the older bluetooth technology, connect to the latest fobo2 app.. nice they allowed for that upgrade.. it was fun though, emailing back and forth to Malasia with a 16 hour time difference..

I topped off my tire pressures for the first time since I migrated over to the FOBO2 app from the FOBO1 app.. I was a little disappointed in the time it took for the pressure readings to change.. although the counting up on the seconds to refresh changes to "now" , the pressure readings didn't correspond .. the pressure readings would still take 30 to 50 seconds.. I wonder if the refresh rate is governed by the FOBO1 sensors that I am still using on the FOBO2 app ? when changing pressures and monitoring on a new FOBO2, how quickly does one get the new pressure reading ? .. like, 15 seconds.. or does it take longer like my set-up and take the 30 to 50 seconds.. I was just wondering ...

Just a guess and knowing zero about the sensor module implementation: To conserve sensor battery, the bluetooth transmission from the sensors is probably at a period and data rate that is as slow as possible without being too much of an annoyance. Initial on-demand requests probably wakes-up resources on the devices and takes readings. This could take some time. Subsequent reading requests might be faster as the device is fully active/awake. Every request and event consumes device battery, so beware. The app just leverages the bluetooth transceiver (mobile phone), and interprets the sensor raw data and presents it to the user (tire pressure).

I don't do very much braking while riding the twisties .. just easy downshifts for the corners.. I do gas it as I leave the corners though .. we will see what that Avon will do for me in a few months..it should be coming in to the dealers this week.. that 120/90/18 Shinko seems to do fairly well.. it outlasts the more expensive dual compound tires.. I am comparing it to the stock D-205.. the fronts seem to wear in the typical "v" .. softer sidewall compounds would make the front tire wear out more quickly..
