Is that so? Not so much coincidence as it's pretty much the only path to some power on this bike I guess...
Do you mean deleting the catalytic?

Negative, I lost that when I fitted my Yoshi full-system.

I'm referring to the air injection valve delete

http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1824 Ah thank you! I actually like my decel popping tho haha. I wasn't sure if there was a new modification I hadn't read about yet but I did read that Pair valve delete a while back I believe.

For the pair- I simply pulled the main hose and stuff a rubber vacuum cap of the right size inside it and put the hose back on the valve cover. Looks stock, and only takes a couple minutes to do, or remove if desired.

As much as I have changed on the bike- I want it to look like it rolled out of the factory this way- in 1982. Smile

No need to go crazy with deleting anything unless you are wanting a 'cleaner' look or 'lighter weight'...which would be negligible. Also no need for the 'block off plates' you see people use.

I'll see if I can find my old pics...
And since you mentioned the velocity stacks-

Yea those pics are gonna help alot when I figure out how to open the airbox.

Do you think its foolish to do the velocity stacks mod with the stock headers or should I continue to wait for the exhaust first?

I already have
1. ECU flash with speed limiter removal, ignition timing retardation is fixed, RPMs raised,
2. PCV with yoshi slip on map (I have a shorty GP tip)

I just dont want to cause a lean condition before I can get either it autotuned or it on a dyno. But I guess the catalytic would be the bottle neck on the way out?

I wouldn't be afraid of doing the stacks now as you already have some fuel. Maybe too much even. Smile

Interesting that you are running both the tune AND the PC5 without autotune because you are probably telling the bike to add fuel twice without each part ordering more fueling knowing that the other part exists. You have no feedback capability- just 2 people telling the injectors what to do- without giving them a chance to speak to the boss.

How is your mileage? Sooty exhaust tip?

Mileage is good, no noticeable difference from stock really. I remember Ghuls telling my mechanic they could have done more with my ECU after I got the exhaust but they kept it fairly conservative since I still had a stock bike at the time.

I should give them a call and ask about that.

No symptoms of sooty exhaust or plugs. I had the RPMs stuttering at highway speeds with the flash alone so the PVC fixed that. Bandaids on bandaids haha

I was planning on doing the stacks, full yoshi exhaust, and have my shop do a custom tune on the PCV all at the same time. But I also had an accident and it messed with my plans haha

I am very happy with the way the bike runs but I fully understand that some riders want more , it is probably just my age !

I am also happy with the way it runs, but I do want more sound! It sounds like a hair dryer. I drilled the end plate almost completely out, but it made very little difference. I was thinking of decatting it, but my BIL says that will introduce tuning problems, so I don't know. I modded the exhaust of my first Nighthawk 750 and it sounded great. My second Nighthawk had a Yoshimura pipe that I repacked to tone it down some and raised the needle on the carbs.

I have this exact shortt exhaust, it actually has a small glass pack in the side walls you can replace occasionally. Its significantly louder than the stock exhaust and its 1 stainless steel band to install.

Very clean looking exhaust end, weighs almost nothing, all the room in the world for aftermarket mounting saddle bags without a muffler in the way. And it sounds awesome - not obnoxious but not quiet. Its quiet on the low end and around town but when you wanna open her up you'll hear her roar lol.
