Model Terminology (Confused)

If you look at the designations, a couple of things emerge. Well, I think so. First, CB1100 is (obviously) common to all. Secondly, the final letter which denotes the year and aligns with the 10th VIN digit which also denotes the year.

Thirdly, where the model has ABS, the letter "A" is inserted.

Finally, if the bike is an EX (non-US model) or DLX (US model) the letter "S" is included.

So a CB1100SAE is a 2014 EX or DLX model with ABS. A CB1100A is a 2010 model without ABS.

And so it goes. I hope that's helpful.

So I understand the 2014s:

CB1100E—2014 >> non-ABS, black engine and cast wheels, small tank, black paint (US)
CB1100AE—2014—ABS >> ABS, black engine and cast wheels, small tank, black paint (US)
CB1100SAE—2014—ABS EX/DLX >> ABS, silver engine and cast wheels, big tank, red paint (US)

I think that's almost right. If I recall correctly, though, in 2014 the standard model is not available in the US with ABS. That is, in 2014, only the CB1100E and the CB1100SAE are available.

ABS is not available on the black 2014 stds in USA

ABS is only available on the 14 dlx in the USA and it's not an option. All dlxs have it. and there is no EX available in the US

That was some great info all in one place!
Now I'm really wondering why in my correspondence with StainTune they keep referring to my bike as a 2013 CB1100F???
(I thought that was just the '80s model!? )

As far as I know, the CB1100F is an earlier model. There's some confusion in Australia (where Satintune is made) and the 2010 & 2011 CB1100 is often referred to as a CB1100F. Dunno why.

In the US the CB1100F was a one year model, made in 1983. It was the last in the Super Sport line of CB750F, CB 900F and CB1100F, all with DOHC motors, boat tails on the rear and 4 into 2 pipes . If you google image Honda CB1100F however you will find pics of the 83 model as well as pics of the 2010-2014 model. Google doesn't know any better lol
