Have you checked the cam chain tensioner area at the back and in the center of the cylinders?
Could be that whilst adjusting the tensioner something has been missed and oil could find it's way down where the starter motor is bolted to the engine;
The aluminium thing with the 3 bolts holding it to the cylinders;
Failing that it may be time to remove the left engine cover for a closer look, it means undoing the gear lever 10 mm m6 bolt, have a look there should be a small punch mark where the gap of the lever lines up with the shaft;
Undo the bolt and pull the shaft straight off and undo the 3 allen screws, you can put the gearlever back on without the cover, go for a ride if you have to and have a closer look if you have not done so already.
