Hi, not sure if this is the same issue, but my CB1100 sometimes makes a rattling at idle from the bottom right side of the frame. There have been a few posts on the forum about ticking/rattling and I think folks were saying it was normal noise from the fuel injectors, or maybe a symptom of using the wrong type of oil. I don't recall a solid consensus when I was browsing the forums a few years ago.
Fast forward to today and I've quit worrying about it. I think the rattling still comes and goes. However, I saw something on the forum tonight about adjusting the balancer backlash. It's on page 11-38 of the 2013/2014 CB1100 service manual. It was buried as a possible fix in one of the threads on engine ticking. It could be worth checking out. When I get a minute, I'm going to adjust the backlash, but I suspect that may have been the issue all along.
