I agree, that the revs. are a tad higher and mileage may suffer, but in my opinion it is totally worth it for the type of riding I do. Mostly backroads and around town. For freeway commuting the 6 speed with this sprocket would rock.
I have a 2013 five speed, and yes it does rev a little high on the freeway, but I think that a 17th sprocket would be perfect on a 2014 six speed.
