Have to admit longevity is a big thing for me in a tire. I'm not a road racer, so grip is relevant. Like I said I ran my stock Dunlops to the edge with no chicken strips and they never let go on me, so I guess they were sticky enough for me, but being worn out at 8,000 miles I felt there were options that would give me the same grip but last longer. What good is paying extra for a top of the line dual compound tire with hard center if it doesn't last longer?
I'm in just the opposite camp. The age of my tires is sure to become a concern before the mileage is going to play a factor. So with that being the case, I'm more concerned with how the tires do in the rain (we get a bit of it here in Oregon) and while I don't "need" sticky tires, I certainly don't mind having them. Thanks for the input!
