The logic above seems to make sense. Except that I have received a document from Honda explaining the series over here which says the following:

CB1100A (this is the standard)
ED - Sold in Europe and Singapore
E - Sold in UK
EK - Sold in South Africa

CB1100SA (EX model)
ED - Sold in Europe and Singapore
E - Sold in UK
