First drive shaft on a Kawasaki was the KZ1000E1 in 1979. They still use many if not most of the components. Turning crank power is done with 45 degree gears called bevel gears. They almost NEVER wear out; only maintenance are seals which are kind of a pain and something you would normally have a shop do. I have the tools to do Kaw shaft seals. This is a pic of a 79 KZ1000E shafty I rebuilt from the ground up...
