I never understood why vehicles (any vehicle!) would have two indicators on the dash: one for the left, one for the right.
Surely, you know what turn you intended to make. Surely, if you are not sure which way you last pressed (or not at all) the turn indicator as "the situation develops" you simply press in the direction you intend to turn the handle bars; you don't look look down to determine which of the two light is blinking! There just isn't time to look down.
The only purpose of the light on the dashboard (if any!) is to remind you: "Hey, you fool, your turn signal is still blinking!". At that point, it does not matter one iota whether it's left or right! Either there is the eye-thumb muscle memory bypass active, or you won't be riding long in the dense city traffic!
