The problem may be that the shifter peg is too high or too low, in which case adjusting the height is done by loosening the nuts at both ends of the shifter adjuster rod will allow you to raise or lower the shifter tip. The adjuster rod is like a turnbuckle, in that it has left hand threads and right hand threads.
The forward nut, which is visible, is left-hand thread. The nut you can't see, at the back, is normal right-hand. I bought a special wrench just to access it without removing the pivot bolt.
