1st: Slide off the grips and wash them with hot water and laundry detergent and also wash the bars and make sure everything is dry.
2nd:A neat trick I use to put the grips on is to use 4-6 zip ties inside of the grip which will help slide in the grip with less friction and once its in there you pull the zip-ties out one by one and boom! You got your grips installed.
I have the renthal gold low bars on my bike and my grips don't slide and i didn't use adhesive.
