Shell Rotella Snythetic 5w40 oil in CB1100

Strange, after reading in earlier posts about excess noise when using 10W/40 oil I switched back to the Honda 10W/30 to see if I could hear a difference. I could not hear any difference at all and Honda actually recommends using 10W/40 in areas of higher average temps. I did not switch to Rotella T6 until the second oil change and during initial breakin with the factory oil and after the first oil change with Honda synthetic 10W/30, I had been experiencing balky shifting into 5th gear with the motor fully warmed. Whether it was simply the extra miles put on, I don't know but the shifting problem vanished entirely when Rotella replaced the Honda 10W/30 at the second oil change.

The CB motor is inherently noisy anyway when compared to most liquid cooled bike motors. Pam's V-strom seems nearly "silent" in comparison.

Now, I take an oath not to comment in any more oil threads LOL.
