The power commander should work with the deluxe. The connectors should all be the same.
If you installed a slip on (without the power commander) and left the o2 sensor connected the ecu should be able to compensate for the change. If you added a mod to your air intake on top of that probably not. However, the bike runs lean from the factory so you will get a much improved throttle response making it more even especially at lower rpm's with the power commander. It sounds like the o2 eliminator may have been plugged into the wrong connector. Both the o2 sensor wire and the speedo wire go down the frame towards the rear wheel but they diverge and the o2 wire goes along the under side of the engine. You should be able to tug on it and see which connector it's going to.
But you will need to get it on a dyno and you will love the results.
