I haven't noticed problem with shifting, but when taking off from a dead stop, I can feel the chain clunking and it's noticeably noisier.
I've vowed to pick up some travel sized cans of Chainsaver in the future. One less thing to worry about when on the road.
I used a wax based lube on the X chain on the 2012 Bonneville...when I finally lubed it a 6,000 miles. It had no issues at 6,000 miles, but since I washed it, I lubed it.
For the last two Yamaha dual sports, PJ1 every 300 miles. That can is almost empty and I have in stock Dupont Chain-Saver Wax-Based Chain Lube.
It is much cheaper than a new O-ring chain, so I will probably lube it every ~500 miles.
