The 2013 I bought new in 2015 currently has 19,000 +/- on the odo and is now going in for it's first valve check on Friday.
If the valve check is required at 8,000 miles per Honda why did I wait to bring it in until now?
In descending order of importance of why I did this.
1) I have Zero faith in my dealerships maintenance and parts department.
2) Based on our Forums membership feedback when they did have it done at the prescribed service interval this does not appear to be a problem area for the bike.
3) It took a while to find a shop I was comfortable with.
Trailering bike down Friday and dropping it off to have valves looked at and brakes flushed and rear pads replaced. At the same Time I'll have them replace the plugs since they have to pull the tank anyway.
I'll ask the tech to write down the specs of each valve and will report them back here. Tech on the phone told me they are out about a week before it will be ready. I'll plug the commuter role with the XR1200 in the meantime.
