In reading these threads I realize that I have been very lucky in the windshield department. I have two shields for each of my CBs, both from NC (to share mounting hardware).
The small NC Deflector works best for hot summer temps. I angle them so that the turbulent wind blast arrives just below my chin at highway speed, which avoids noise and buffeting issues.
For winter riding and long road trips, I use the larger Plexistar 2, which offers much better coverage (think hail storms and swarms of bees) and sends the turbulent area to the top of my helmet. This also avoids noise and buffeting around the helmet area.
For both types of shields, I did spend some time adjusting angles and testing to make sure the turbulent area was either above or below the face shield. That seems to take care of the worst buffeting and noise.
