The connector under the side cover is the DLC connector (data link connector) for the HDS (Honda diagnostic system to jack in to. The Aux power connector is in a boot on the inside of the frame. You have to remove the tool box to get to it, and removing the side cover helps too.
I currently have the Healtec GiPro gearshift indicator plugged into my DLC (as does Cormanus as the ‘13 does not have one) and sometimes plug in my Healtec diagnostic tool.
In the headlight shell aux connector I have a SAE connector hooked to it. The SAE end is on the top tripple tree. For battery charging I, and a lot of us, have a SAE pigtail connected directly to the battery with the SAE end poking out a hole in the fender plastic on the right side.
