LED turn signals

For those that want to install LED turn signal bulbs in the stock turn signals or replace the turn signals with LED units, here is what is required.

The stock Honda flasher unit will hyperflash if LED replacement lights are installed.

One can purchase a digital flasher made by Posh for the CB1100. Very easy install, no modification to the wiring harness. I bought the unit from Samurider, just under $100.

The replacement is slightly longer than the stock unit. No fear

Lift gas tank, locate original flasher on left front area under the tank. Disconnect the two electrical connections.

Remove unit, remove the rubber band that holds it in place. Install the rubber band on new flasher unit. Even though the new unit is longer it will fit, just make sure the wire running to the left and around is not trapped under the flasher. Reinstall the tank and you are done. No more hyperflash.

Enjoy!

Without any experience for reference, this seems expensive for the seemingly simple task it performs, but without the actual expertise myself and given this is exactly what I want I am tempted. Thanks for the idea and how-to.

Yes I agree, but sadly it does not take or use cheap digital flasher unit that most bikes can use. I looked for months but finally gave up as my time is worth something. At least no cutting or modification of the wiring harness.

If someone finds a cheaper alternative I am all ears, as I still have my 2013 CB I would like to modify, but I drew a line at one.

Very nice and simple directions. Thanks for dropping that knowledge on us! Thumbs Up

Having installed more LED turn signals on bikes over the years than I can count, the simple, quick and inexpensive solution for slowing down the flash rate is to wire a resistor in line. They can be purchased ready to install from several parts distributors that your local dealer probably has the catalogs for. The CB1100 wiring is so easily accessible a first time DIYer should have no trouble. Just do it!

Yes I thought about the resistor option, but need to install and previous experience those resistors get hot. This way I reduce the electrical current use and make it available for other accessories.

Unfortunately, the POSH part are not in stock at Samurider or japan.webike. I have ordered one from Samurider, but I don’t know if the relay ever coming on stock again.

I have just fallen I love with LED Turn signals from http://motogadget.com/en/turn-signal-lights.html for my new caferacer.

Just want to do it the correct way instead of resistors.

The resistor idea sucks for these bikes though. Firstly, there isn't that much room in the headlight bucket. Also, since our front signal lights are also run lights, the resistors are always 'working' and get hotter than they would in signals that are signal only. I had mine set up this way, debated trying to wire in a universal solution, then gave up and bought this POSH unit -- totally worth it...

Resurrecting an old thread.....

I like the LED's not just for their longevity but for their brightness as well.

My bike is hyperflashing now, anybody find a more affordable solution besides soldering resistors?

Not sure if the hyperflashing really bothers me though. It sort-of brings attention to me when signalling. Kind-of like the modulating headlight...
