weird turn signal lenses
#1
Recently the t/s lens on my 14 dlx broke off in my hand while loading the bike on the trailer for the trip to Colorado. Offroad gave me some black tape and I made a temporary repair and ordered a new lens when I got back from the trip.

Picked it up today and it's the weirdest, most complicated t/s lens I have ever seen. (also the most expensive)

I replaced one on my 13 CB and it had a single screw going up from the bottom IIRC, but the lens was just a normal lens with a tang to catch the screw.

In the old days it was 2 phillips screws that went in from the front.

Not sure how this thing goes on, going to have to get out the service manual. Never had to do that before just to put on a turn signal lens.

Isn't that an ST behind that lens?

Yes I rode the ST today to pick up the chain and sprockets and turn signal lens for the CB which I put in one of the cavernous saddlebags. Stopped outside the shop to look at the lens. Took the pic and headed home. (rode the CB yesterday)

Look at the size of the gap between the grip and the left bar end weight on that thing!

Ok so went out to replace the t/s lens. (btw my service manual was no help..it's for a 13 lol)

Removed black tape,
Removed yellow part of lens which had crumbled all around the edge,
Found a single phillips head self tapping screw on bottom of t/s and removed it.
Tried pulling out old lens but it wouldn't budge.
Looked closely at new one and found these little tabs...hmm
Turned lens counter clockwise 1/4 turn and out it popped.
How complicated does this have to be?
Reversed procedure and replaced screw and we are done.
Weird.

here's the old lens

Cormanus, I put Honda heated grips on my ST and they have the same gap. A lot bigger than before the heated grips. Honda, whats up with that?

Ferret, weird how it deteriorated like that.

The heated grips are shorter than the stock grips. That is why they come with new different fitting bar ends.

They didn't with my ST (don't have heated grips on the CB). I had to reinstall the old ones. And was suprised at the gap.

Now a have a throttlemeister and their heavy ends on the ST. Don't care about gaps anymore Smile
