Installed Denali D2 driving lights
#1

Installed Denali D2 driving lights from Twisted Throttle for my night touring. They are supposed to light out 400+ feet, but won't know full value until i get out of city lights into open country

Light package:

Fender mounts:

*
I overplan, so it took me about 6 hours. Hardest part was the darn "quick release" gas tank line adapter. Also has to go to hardware store and buy two 6mm x 45mm hex bolts because fender kits bolts were a tad off. And also had to extend ground wire by 6 inches that goes to battery post because the plastic tool box that wedges on top of the batter would not fit in.
*
Pictures attached. Pink rope shows the path I took. Headlight can pic show the blue high beam wire I patched into off of the headlight lamp fitting.

*

Rest of pics.

Stripped bike naked before stating to fit for trip. Well almost naked (light, rack, repositioned rear signals, inverted horns) Smile

I never tire at looking at pics of the Dlxs. Beautiful motorcycle.the relocated rear turn signals look like they belong there.

Love the pink rope, what a great way to plan out a route and illustrate it.

Just got back from xcountry trip. I discovered an unfortunate truth about these lights. They only provide "visability" for others looking at the bike. They do not increase visibiliy to rider. I feel cheated! I wanted flood light for dark highways like in Arizona high desert etc. I was riding at 3am in Arizona and stopped multiple times on the highway to adjust these up/down/left/right to try to get a flood effect but they did not out distiance my main headlight. According to Twisted Throttle page, "The DENALI DM 2.0 LED TriOptic LED light kit with DataDim technology maximizes visibility in an extremely durable, efficient, compact yet very powerful package. The DM is primarily designed for conspicuity, so you’ll stand out from road clutter and be seen by other drivers, but it also provides a useful increase in illumination over your motorcycle’s stock headlight." I am sorry, but the last part is a blatant lie! Probably going to take these off soon. Will contact vendor and see what they have to say.

Let me know when you want to sell them. I wouldn’t mind cars seeing me more. Just haven’t wanted to bite the retail price.

But, bflint, these are like day time running lamps ...

Evidently true. I just wanted something for better night time vision ... other than eating more carrots Smile
