I don't have a very fancy smartphone and the picture quality isn't great on it. I prefer to use my DSLR camera (doesn't have GPS on it) and take pictures the old fashioned way.
But in this day and age.... people are stupid and will do anything to get something for free.

I love my DSLR, but I am too lazy for the process. Also, phone cameras are amazing. Even if not up to the standards of the DSLR professional. Which I understand.

If you are using Windows 10, you can right click on your pictures, select "Properties", change to the "Details" tab, then at the bottom click "Remove Properties and Personal Information" to strip this private information from your photos before sharing online.

I don't think you can remove the geotagging using the Windows "remove properties" feature unfortunately.
I will typically upload to imgur.com and then re-download them again to a separate folder. This process strips out all personally identifiable information as well as randomizes the filename.

What about native (local) refactoring of the image with your favourite imaging software?
