Convenience has a price too. The thought of not having to do the chain maintenance, as cheap and easy as it may be, every 500 miles has to be worth something right?

Not unreasonable, as long as the product is fair and stands up to its claims.

Good point. How long did you have to work to earn the extra money (post taxes) to pay for the convenience of not having to clean the chain lube off your rear wheel every 500 miles or so? This obviously depends on your salary. I don't mind cleaning my rear wheel occasionally because it gives me the opportunity to closely inspect my rear tire and other items on my bike (like the chain) at the same time.

I reckon one of the points of at least some amount of motorcycle maintenance is to be a part of the total experience and understand just how close to failure life can become.

This is a form of appreciation.
