Nice upgrade and the chrome springS looks proper.

What is that nut on the top of the ohlins shock?
Did you set the sag on your shock yet? if not instructions on how is included in the ohlins manual. I don't think that you are close to bottoming out on the rears. I would not use the bumpstop as a reference point on shock travel and normally they are positioned at the very base of the shock Rod. If you want to see shock travel I would use a very thin zip tie to determine shock travel but I think you are fine...

I did not have to remove the muffler to get the shocks off.
Using a little silicone spray and jiggling (?) the old shocks came of easy.
Also put some lubricant , again I used silicone ,on the rubber bushing on the bottom and they will slide on easier.
Get the bolt started and they will press onto the studs.
I took the bike for a ride afterwards but used an Airhawk seat cover for my sore prostate and therefor could not get a true feeling of the Ohlins but I know they are a big improvement.
I have the Ohlins piggy backs on my other bikes but these standard ones are fine for the Cb1100

PS A few days after my TURP operation they told me that I have stage 1 prostate cancer, sometimes you can not win !

Hmmmm, that is good advice...I didn't even think of it at the time! Again, I tapped lightly and only at the mounting points. BTW, the nut at the top is preload.

On the prostate cancer deal, be conservative and do your research. Some docs just want to start cutting and taking parts out.

On the shocks, the S46 damper as shown in the OP offers only rebound damping, however, the design of the shock is such that changing the rebound clicker also changes compression damping. It's a needle with a single orifice. Works well for street bikes.

I've decided I need to upgrade my shocks but will probably go with the piggyback style, most likely Works Performance, with full adjustability: compression damping, rebound damping, ride height, and preload. It's only another 500 bucks and since I like Cap'n Kidd real well, I want to treat him right.

I'm likin' these:
