Ohlins

Just received and installed a set of Ohlins today. Nice looking set of shocks. Took em on a short ride over the roughest road in Fort Collins. I could immediately feel the softer yet more controlled ride. The jarrings of the stock shock are muted.(At least for my 62 year old back) Tonight I will take on a 60 mile mountain section for my in depth, seat of the pants analysis...

I only do these things to help my fellow man spend money like I do on frivolous objects.
Now, where is my Staintune I ordered 3 weeks ago???

Just a few questions:
What adjustments other than preload do these allow for?
Length the same as stock?
Where puchased/cost?

Adj. for preload, comp. and rebound. Same length. I bought from James @ super plush suspensions in CA. They were ~ $1130 inc. shipping. Here is a link to the desc. of the shock:
http://www.ohlins.com/Our-products-new/M...absorbers/

This is the only shock available from Ohlins. I asked to have a black spring instead of the traditional yellow.

I don't know. I had James set them up according to my needs. I am 200 lbs. so I doubt the spring rate is the same. James is a suspension genius. I trust him.

Just got back from a 65 mile ride in the mountains west of town. Shock is spot on. No need to adjust. Much improved, esp. around bumpy corners.
I give it a big thumbs up

Not calling you a liar .. but I had "Jerry" from Ohlins try to sell me a set of HO 414's - but priced at $1530.00 .. nah, I'll pass. I want my bike to handle better - North Georgia/TN/NC mountains can really push your suspension if you're an aggressive rider (like me). Very cool shock, but not worth the price (to me) .. they have adjustable length to add 8mm or subtract 2mm (373mm/362mm) .. and have compression & rebound adjusters & a ride height adjuster.

You may be right, but it is the only shock listed when I click on our model on the web site.

Phat Performance Parts has them, too
#9

Started browsing around after I read this thread and noticed that Indy Superbikes carries them plus Phat Performance Parts (for you west coast riders). I've ordered stuff from Phat in my cruiser days so they're legit.

Cost online shows $975.95, still not much cheaper. They note two model numbers (same as what shows up on the Ohlins site) HO-010 and HO-011. I have no idea what the difference is between them.

From the Phat listing looks like that HO-414 is for the CB1300 a whole 'nother beast.

I was browsing around and found Ikon has a shock for the CB1100 (sometimes you have to look for the 2010-11 model years for the European or Australian models which came out earlier than our US model). Think that was about $500 or so.

Will keep watching to see what HyperPro, Wilbers, Works Performance, etc. come up with. Wish Ricor would make a set along with Intiminators for the forks. Think I'll just ask them about it.

Aloha,
Huladog

I weigh 85 kilos and have found the std suspension on the CB very good, comfortable and controlled. On my last few modern bikes Buell XB12, Triumph Street Triple and Honda CB 1300 the suspension got better after the bike had done 10000 Kms plus. So I would advise against jumping in and changing the shocks until the bike has a few Kms on it, that is unless you have a lot of weight on board or are pushing the bike to its limits.
