  First Long Ride Discoveries
Posted by: chandler_imp - 07-03-2017, 06:46 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

Just got home from my first longish ride. Atlanta >Blue Ridge>Suches >rambled around >Atlanta ~250 miles total.
I left around 10am and got back just after 4pm. I had a great time. Here's what I discovered.
1. I need to take more breaks. I was having so much fun riding, that I didn't stop enough.
2. I need new gloves. After 30 minutes or so, these gloves get uncomfortable.
3. The USB adapter and cell phone mount I installed was a huge help.
4. Earplugs. I need to bring them next time.

I was thinking about also listing that the stock seat hurts, I need highway pegs, and cruise control. However, I think if I just stopped to take more breaks, these things wouldn't be big concerns.

I love this bike. It handles the curvy roads well and when I was worn out and wanted to take the quickest route home, it handled GA 400 well, doing 75 the whole way.
It was the perfect way to spend the day.

Have these been talked about before? I purchased a black one on June 15 and I am waiting for it to arrive.

Did any of the CB11 versions/MYs come with black mirrors as standard?

  Honda sighting
Posted by: flynrider - 07-02-2017, 11:15 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

After 4 years of ownership, I have yet to run across another CB1100 in the wild.

Yesterday, on my approach to the local airport I had a pretty cool Honda sighting. The tower called out a Honda Jet heading right towards me at my altitude and recommended a slight left turn. The flying Honda passed off my right wingtip. It flashed by in seconds. Undoubtedly the coolest Honda I've seen yet (followed closely by the CB1100 Big Grin ).

Purchased a 1971 Yamaha Enduro DT-1E 250cc from the original owner. Lot's of hours metal polishing, new tires plus a bunch of ebay parts has it looking new again, runs excellent.

  Tallest Factory Seat ?
Posted by: Macduff_imp - 07-01-2017, 07:21 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (4)

Just wondered if there was a list on which was the tallest factory seat Honda has fitted to the CB1100 over the years and will any seat fit any model year/version?
On the UK honda site it lists the '17 RS as having a 795mm seat height with 130mm ground clearance http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range...tions.html
and the '17 EX as 790mm seat with 135mm clearance .
http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range...tions.html
This seems to indicate the EX has a lower saddle than the RS as it should be taller with its greater ground clearance (due to 18" wheels?)

Cheers

  Sending out positive thoughts
Posted by: Guth_imp - 07-01-2017, 08:01 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (17)

Received a note from my good fishing-buddy yesterday. The day before a car plowed into him from behind while he was stopped at a red light on his motorcycle (commuting home). The cars rate of speed was pretty high and I've not received any more info at this point. So I'm just sending out my positive thoughts at this point in time.

  Montavilla sighting
Posted by: Guth_imp - 07-01-2017, 06:28 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I've been seeing enough CB1100s around here lately that I've stopped posting up every time I see one. Today's sighting was a bit more distinctive as this CB1100 looked like it had a Yoshimura exhaust. Parked along Stark today in Portland's Montavilla neighborhood. Belong to anyone here?
