Windscreen that works for 6'2" rider.

I inherited a big National windscreen from the PO, put it on, tried it out at 55mph, took it off, stuck it in the attic.

I buffeted me to death (worse than several hours lost in Margaritaville).

I'm not really looking for a huge screen on the one hand, nor do I want a cafe-type cowl on the other. I'm hoping for something low-key that mostly kinda disappears on the bike, but offers some wind protection for a tall rider. Easy on/off also a plus, but maybe I'll like the looks enough to make it a permanent addition and not just for long fast rides.

Something like this that I found as an unidentified image on the web meets my look requirements...

... but would it work for a tall rider?

Any talller riders out there, please let me know if you've found anything along these lines? Maker, model, link--whatever information you've got--greatly appreciated!

Looks like it might be the Dart Marlin screen. I have a very tall mate who has one on his CB1100 and likes it.

As with the SW Motech side-case racks, looks like I'm late to the party yet again:

Dart doesn't appear to make for our bike anymore, and I'm having no luck finding stock in the US.

Maybe there's still availability in Europe though?

I'd contact them and ask. They've made them for the CB1100 in the past.

Appreciate the tip,!

Mine's a 2014 Deluxe, though, and my understanding is they aren't compatible. 😕

Hey Lucien, I've been using National Cycle Street Shield EX on both of my old CBs (and now the new one). It's good for relieving the wind pressure from your chest at highway speeds. The shields are very much adjustable in height and slope. I have mine sloped back pretty low and the wind hits me just above the visor. I'm 5'8".

Those look nice on the bikes!

Unless I'm terribly mistaken the headlight brackets on the 2014 DLX are the same ones used on the CB1300 & CB400.

Anyone eager to try the original Honda windshield that's available for the CB1300?

Part number is 08R70-MFP-600

Thanks for your post McGyver!

Found on Webike and the looks...

... and the $100 price are great (but $125 shipping, not so much). If I could get one here I'd probably try it.

Note, though that Webike isn't listening the 1100:

Also, I wonder if it's tall enough to work for me at 6'2"?

Does anyone have an opinion on the windscreen height working or not for a tall rider? I have no experience with a small windscreen like this type.

Nothing is tall enough for us at 6'2" :D.

Previous owner had an Ermax on mine, I sent it to the recycling center the moment I got home.

Yes, I know.
I would risk it given the part numbers, but it's your money, time and bike.

Thanks again, McGyver. After searching around a bit, I think you are correct with very high probability on all counts. (y)

A) The CB1300 and 2013/14 CB1100 have 7" diameter headlights.

B) Per CSMNL, the 2013/14 CB1100 brackets (e.g.: 61318-MEJ-720) are indeed shared by the CB1300.

C) The fly-screen brackets only seem to physically contact the headlight bracket area...

...leaving the only question I can think of is whether the instrument buckets are possibly in the way, which comparing 2013/14 CB1100 pictures...

...they most certainly do not: the 2013/14 CB1100 buckets are more tucked in out of the way of the fly screen.

Should fit!

This leaves the question "would this specific very modest fly screen improve, hurt or make no difference to a rider on the highway?"

McGyver is saying (I think) that he thinks no, won't help, based on the Ermax he inherited, but I'm unfamiliar with Ermax and how it compares to this screen.

Does anyone have an opinion about this specific windscreen?

I'm not going to help at all as I have very limited experience of windscreens. However, every time I've ridden a bike that has one, except an ST1300 where I could tuck completely behind it when it was right up, I've suffered turbulence near my chin which has been noisy and irritating. Hence I persist riding without a screen.

I have the MRA universal tinted screen. Works great. You need the 22mm clamp size (or to source a pair of shims from 22 to 28mm).

I'm 6'1 and it works well for me on the 2014ex. Especially tilted upright where it's a little less noisy.

This guy?

It attaches in two spots only? On the handlebars?

It looks like it can be put on and taken off fast and easy, yes?

Two spots only (put a little inner tube in the clamps to keep it extra solid). It has a little flex to it but it never actually moves. Doesn't contact the instruments or headlight.

Takes about a minute to undo the two bolts and take it off.

I tried the Puig naked before this, but it wouldn't clear the instruments.
