No, I did not get rid of my beloved 1100. I've been commuting on her every day. However, I walked into the dealer the other day and the rest is history...

Meet my new 2018 Honda CB1000R Neo-Sports Cafe.

Congrats Rob. The newest of the new. So what's it like? A ride report is in order.

It feels so much thinner and lighter than the 1100. I'm in the break-in period so I'm running it in standard mode, but acceleration is effortless. The ergos are great with the mid-controls and upright seating position. Needs bar end mirrors cause I mostly just see my broad shoulders. The engine sounds amazing, but the factory exhaust is on the hit list. Steering input is immediate, so responsive. This is definitely a different beast. Can't wait to get her up in the canyons.

several members on here expressed strong concerns of the power curve on this thing, with the general impression being that it might have been badly designed, with odd dips in power delivery at certain intervals. All that's theoretical armchair engineering though. i'm really interested in hearing a detailed description of it from a rider, once you get it out of standard mode, of course :-p.

Congrats Rebel !!

i made a short testride any weeks before in our nearby hills......... I am now completely spoiled with the upright seating position from our CB.....so i am not hot for this neo-cafe CB....
and for my country here it has to much power bcos the radars allaround and behind every corner ( max 50ml/h allowed outside villages/towns...)
for everyday life and dayloops i miss the possiblity for luggages.....i hold nothing from saddlebags and backpacks

clear, the (curve)-handling self is super ...

That's why I kept the 1100...options!

What a funny thing. I was looking at an old thread a minute ago and saw your handle. I thought, ‘I wonder what happened to Rebel73?’ I move on and there you are.

Congratulations. They look like great bikes. A report would be great when your out of the run-in period. Or before.

Thanks, Cormanus. That is funnny how the universe works. I know I've been MIA for a while but I'm still around. Been commuting on my DLX every day. I love both my bikes now but for different reasons. The DLX is a classic beauty and the 1KR is a neo-retro beast. Can't wait to get past the break-in and try my hand at sport mode. ;-)

I dig that bike, eager to hear your longer term report. Congrats!

So took the CB1KR for a nice ride on Sunday through Tujunga Canyon as part of the yearly Hansem Dam Ride here in So Cal. Being that I was still in break-in, I kept it in standard mode. Regardless, all I can say is HOLY MOLY, what a beast. The power (even at 2/3) and handling are amazing! Steering input is so responsive, my cornering confidence was leaps above the 1100. Cornering clearance is of no concern. The power delivery concerns are utterly unfounded, IMHO. Maybe the guys who said that crap are Vespa riders. This motorcycle is so composed and rock solid, and takes corners with utter aplomb.

Hey,Reb...when I first saw your pix I thought you were on a 125,or ,dare I say it ....a grom! Either that's a small liter bike or you're one big dude!

The bike is actually quite tall, but slim. It weighs in at around 465 wet. I'm only about 5'11", but pretty built at around 215lbs.
