Gauging interest: An Official CB1100 Forum Calendar

[Whoops]

Went to hang mine already. Put a nail in the wall, then noticed there were no holes.

Note to add holes to next year’s calendar to do list.

Received mine today as well. Very nicely done!

Are the forum members whose birthdays are on the monthly calendar pages the ones whose pictures were selected? Just wondering…

Maybe this was mentioned previously as well, but do the quotes come from the forum user whose bike is shown for that month or are the quotes and pictures not associated? Again, just wondering…

The answers are yes and yes. It was an extra bit of personalization I wanted to add to for the featured bikes. Every bike you see belongs to that user that appears in the quote.

Nice!

That looks pretty lethal, in my hands anyway. Will be sure to have a tourniquet on standby.

It was cool to see the calendars first arrive to forum members nearest MP "back east" and then read of others receiving theirs in the midwest, the southwest, in CA...and finally they made it to Oregon. Thanks again, MP!!

Two of my brothers recently gifted me with a home-made classical guitar--one of my brothers is a luthier and the other financed the specialty woods and guitar tuning pegs...just a really beautiful instrument. They are both getting a CB1100 calendar as a small thank you.

[misterprofessionality]

dang....that's craftsmanship. i don't have any skill that comes close to that level.

He is really good! Perhaps this thread won't mind an off topic photo and short story. My brother Martin nearly died of covid back in July of 2020--7 weeks in hospital, 5 on respirator.

Unbeknownst to me, he had just started making the guitar in the photo when he got ill. While he was unconscious and having the machine breathe for him, one of my sisters would repeat to him over and over that he had to pull through because he had so many things and people to live for...one of those was the "birthday surprise" that he was making for his younger brother--me.

Recently, my son stopped by for my birthday--said he had a car problem that he wanted me to look at before it got dark. He opened the hatch of his car and told me to look at it to see if I could determine the hatch's problem. I played with it a bit, and told him it seemed fine to me. He told me to look closer, and that's when I noticed an unusual guitar case laying there. My son doesn't play...he just said "happy birthday, Pops, your brother sent this to me to give to you". Pretty cool...I think he deserves a calendar.

I haven’t gotten mine yet in Va. Beach. I think Mr. P kept it to get that sweet sweet $850 I was going to sell it for

The case is as beautiful as the guitar! I find that green velvet quite striking.
Your brother obviously put a lot of time and love into that instrument.

He of course knows the potential future collectors value of the First Edition CB1100 Forum Calendar though right? Clearly he will be sending you a second hand-made guitar to square up.

I have bad news....I came home from work today to find yours back in my mailbox with a cryptic note on it from the post office.

Im not sure what this means exactly. It has the same 9oz label on it as every other calendar I sent (it weighs less than 6 oz) and yet it got returned to me while the others got delivered no problem. First the Australians get shafted and now this. I'm very unimpressed with the US post office.

I'll have to go down to the post office during open hours and personally ask them what's up with this.

My luck Mr. P.

When Mr. T shipped my Road Comet, Customs in NY said the shipping label fell off and sent it back to him. Not sure how that worked but he re-sent it and all was good.

My name is wrong on your label. It is McLendon. Maybe that’s it.

Can't be the name. I could send it to ronald mcdonald as long as it had your address on it.

It does it, indeed. The only sad thing is that I'll never have the ability to play at the quality level of this guitar...I told my brother him giving me the guitar was like throwing pearls to swine as the proverb goes.

The case was hand made by Cedar Creek specifically for this guitar. My brother gave them 30 some different measurements and the case fits the guitar like a glove.
