Be careful. Now three of us have mentioned the excessive turn-in of more than one model of newer Moto Guzzis. On my '14 California it was so severe it was an unsafe vehicle. I am not overstating it. It was that bad. Maybe some combination of the size, weight, rake, trail? I don't know.
 
When making a turn or taking a long sweeping highway exit, the bike forcefully tried to keep turning more and more. Mine took A LOT of effort to keep it from turning more. There was never anything like a 'gentle turn', it was always a fight every time, everywhere. Very unsettling and dangerous especially after a long riding day when I was a bit tired. A fight until I got in the garage.
 
I have owned a MG V7 Classic since 2009. I have never experienced any of the handling problems detailed here. The original OEM Metzelers were crap. Replacing them with Pirellis made a huge difference.

If anything the MG handling is a little slow compared to my BMW and Honda.
 
The V7III should be at the U.S. dealerships next week (according to my local dealers here in So. Cal).
It has a slightly different rake angle and a couple other small geometric differences that could change the steering. Not sure what tire could improve the turn-in issue. I think they come with Pirelli Demons, which have grip, but not son good on longevity.
Also a couple more hp.
 
Just went to their website. The new California touring with bags and Trunk looks great as does the Norge Touring with trunk in the video

I was only referring to my California Touring, not trying to speak badly about any other model.
 
If you all could buy a 2014 CB1100 or a 2016 V7 2 stone for the same price which would you all get. I like the CB1100 for it's greater power and speed (MG guys this is correct right) but love the idea of no chain maintenance and the engine and uniqueness of the stone. I am trying to decide between the 2. Had a 2014 CB before and thinking of going back to it or getting a 2016 stone. Currently on a zx14r.

I think it depends on how you intend to use the bike. I no longer own either of my two V7's. In their place is my 2014 CB1100 DLX. The Guzzi's were quite endearing motorcycles (some of my all-time favorites, in fact), with plenty of power for how I was riding them, superb handling, and a lot more "character" than my CB, but at the end of the day, I think the Honda is a superior motorcycle in terms of build quality and on-the-road riding satisfaction. That being said, I have been seduced by the new V7 III line-up and may find myself adding one to my stable. Coming off a ZX14R, if you're concerned about power, both the Honda and the Guzzi (especially the Guzzi, with its 40 hp) could leave you dissatisfied.
 
All else being equal, the V7II is a more practical motorcycle, and like LongRanger said, one of my alltime favs. It moves my 285 lb+ frame like nobody's business, very torquey motor with excellent gearing. Modifications (windshield, luggage, seat) are super easy.

However, all is not equal, you need a good dealer to make the MG work for you long term. In the last couple of years the trend has been dealers dropping out of the game, not good. Apparently Piaggo is a PITA to work with from a dealer perspective.

LR, if you go the V7III route would love to hear your comparison to your older V7s
 
Back in 2012 I looked at the V7 and the CB, bought the CB. I already had a Griso so another Guzzi was attractive but truth be told I bought the Griso because I didn't think Honda was going to bring the CB to the States or I never would have bought her.

Being tall with a lot of inseam that generation of V7 was not exactly a good fit (and for the money, the CB came with more power, larger frame, - it was simply a better value). I was able to test ride the V7 and I found it a fun bike to ride, just felt small. That said, I'm eyeing the V9. :)

People tour on the V7's and like it. It is very capable. On paper the CB is a superior machine; but it really boils down to you and what you are looking for in a motorcycle and the job you expect it to do. Some of us can afford more than one bike to scratch the different itches and the V7 can do wonders for some. If you, for what ever reason(s), are limited to one bike, I think the CB makes more sense. For me anyway.
 
I just returned from a trip to Italy, where I rented a MG V7 for two days to strafe Tuscany. It was a 2013 with 66K KM on the clock, and it has lived a hard life as a rental bike. It was absolutely the perfect bike for the task.

It is an antediluvian- feeling machine, and I felt that if it broke down, I could scavenge parts from a tractor or field pump in one of the many vineyards i rode by. I say this with admiration...it really is a sweet, vintage- feeling machine, perfectly suited for winding, narrow Italian roads. Thumping v-twin, vibrations galore (but of the basso profundo variety, which don't bother me near as much as the CB's tingles) and a gearbox with a wide array of neutrals to enjoy between gears.

A GPS with a wicked sense of humor put me on a dirt and rock mountain road for over 20KM...what a treat on this little machine! Stand on the pegs, let the rear wheel slide a little...Guzzi should go flat tracking! You really feel the 100 LB difference from our zaftig but elegant CB.

The CB is several generations of evolution ahead of the V7, and is meticulously built. But for ride through Chianti, there's no way I'd rather have had the CB, and I grew fond of the rattle- can black V7. I'd happily own one, even in light of my past experience with my Griso flambé bike.
 
I bought a V7ii Special last year. Absolutely love it. Some will point to the low power 50hp; the V7iii has 10% more) but it is so light - and with high torque - it feels like plenty. Anyway, it gets you as fast as the law allows, no problem.

No issues with the cornering mentioned above - a beautiful machine to look at, great sound and very stable. People are always talking to me about it.

The only issue I would say is that if your 6ft + you'd feel a bit cramped. I'm not, so I don't.
