Another Corbin seat thread
#1

OK. Just ordered the Corbin seat. I'm still getting used to the riding position (transitioning from low cruisers), and read enough to want to try this seat. I know that some have complained that it is too hard, but I've rode enough bicycles to know that firm can be better than too soft.

I didn't order a passenger backrest yet. I'd rather ride solo, but being single sometimes a man's got to do what a man's got to do. Big Grin

I'll probably order the Honda rack next, and any lady who wants to ride can use a duffel that I'll more than likely have strapped to it.

I'm trying to keep this bike pretty minimal. I've always had winshields, bags, backrests.... But this time, I'm just trying to keep it pretty clean. If I do get wind protection, it will be a small screen. If I want to take a trip, I know that I can strap enough gear to a rack. I've got a tank bag that I keep a few day things in, so I don't want saddlebags this time.

Did you go with the standard Corbin available for the CB1100 or did you ask for the Chip Beck designed seat? Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I've come to find the stock seat more than adequate so I plan to leave it on. I've had a Corbin seat on a prior motorcycle and thought it made a big difference in comfort and I found the craftsmanship to be top notch. Be sure to post some photos once you receive it.

I just went with the standard. I started to get some custom touches, but decided not to. I'm not very patient, and want to get it as soon as I can.

How does the Corban affect passenger comfort?

It will still be a couple of weeks before it is shipped. I'll try to let you know when I get it. Maybe someone else with one will chime in.

Any customization wouldn't have added any time to it.
Check out my trip to Corbin when I had my seat made.

Simple,

The Corbin passenger area is about 30% larger than the stock seat passenger area. Renea likes riding on the Corbin a lot more than on the stock seat. She noticed the difference immediately.

Yeah, I found that out after I ordered. But that's OK.

Finally got to ride a couple hundred miles on the new seat. Took a little getting used to, but now I love it. Let's just say that it eliminates a problem I was having with the stock seat where a certain part of my anatomy was going numb that I don't think needs to go numb. When I stopped riding, it had nothing to do with seat fatigue. It had to do with me not wearing sleeves and arms were starting to get burned.

Gotta love it. I would rather have it fast, than the way I really want it! That is when you know the bike lust side of your brain has taken over. Tongue
